Senior Business Analyst

The Senior Business Analyst serves as a liaison between the GFL business units and the IT organization to provide technical and process solutions to meet user needs. They will take a data-driven approach to identify best practices and opportunities for improvement and will assist with facilitating change across GFL’s growing businesses.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Business stakeholders and IT partners to create, identify, and evaluate project deliverables. Recommend and accept trade-offs during project design and implementation, ensuring that the consequences of decisions are well understood by all stakeholders.
• Elicit and manage business and technical requirements, interviewing stakeholders, performing business analysis, reviewing surveys, making site visits and conducting effective facilitation sessions with multiple business and vendor partners.
• Translate high-level requirements into user stories for consumption by the development team while ensuring new stories and features are added iteratively to the product development cycle.
• Conduct end-to-end testing on applications and technology, to ensure that business, technical, and functional requirements are being met, including the UAT protocols for use by non-IT subject matter experts.
• Connect with senior business leaders to understand project priorities, align on success metrics, and keep project efforts focused on achieving the desired business results.
• Compare business performance with current state and future state process maps, completing gap analysis and documenting recommended process improvements.
• Analyze information to identify trends, patterns, gaps, and insights using descriptive analytics. Use data visualization tools to further business insights and industry best practices.
• Train and mentor less experienced business analysts sharing your knowledge and expertise. Manage junior business analysts to meet the Business Transformation team’s expectations and deliverables.
• Manage and assist with the change process when a new system or process is implemented, helping to minimize disruption and maximize process adoption.
• Assist in enforcement of project deadlines, schedules, and methodologies.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

• University degree in engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, computer science or a similar discipline
• Advanced knowledge and experience using the MS Office platform and a programming language (Python and SQL). Experience with Salesforce, Lucid, ServiceNow and Automation Anywhere is preferred.
• The candidate must be energetic, driven and committed to project success while working under tight time constraints and pressure.
• Ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear, concise manner across functional and technical departments.
• Strong understanding of web-based application delivery.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks at any one time while maintaining high quality standards.
• Must have proven experience working on complex, cross-functional, or transformation-style projects, demonstrating the ability to navigate ambiguity, drive change, and deliver impactful business outcomes
• Knowledge of project management techniques, agile methodology, lean or six sigma methodology are preferred.
