Job Description/Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Collects, prepares and analyzes samples, issues certificates and reports, maintains sources inventory. Participates in inter-comparison programs.
  • Conduct facility radiation and contamination surveys, outdoor environmental surveys, and follows up on remediation of flagged dose and contamination locations.
  • Tracks instrumentation calibrations and service needs. Performs in-house calibrations/repairs on select instruments, and coordinates calibration/repair with vendors for other instruments. Arranges for shipments and/or delivers/picks up instruments.
  • Sets up staff on the electronic dosimetry system, issues and collects dosimeters. Maintains dose history. Creates dose reports.
  • Obtains quotes to support lab and field instruments purchase and maintenance and submits purchase requisitions. Performs receipt inspections on received instruments.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements/Skills

  • Good communication skills
  • Comprehensive computer knowledge (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently on own initiative with some supervision
  • Customer service orientation

Minimum Education, Experience and Certification Requirements

  • Required education: 2 year college diploma in physical or laboratory sciences.
  • Required experience: 1 year experience working in a laboratory. Preferred experience: 2 years working in laboratory in the nuclear industry.
