- Perform calculations and prepare specification and detail designs for various structures in accordance with applicable codes and industry standards.
- Supervise the production of design drawings.
- Establish and maintain cordial, close relationships with clients or their representatives.
- Lead and manage multi-disciplinary projects with various clients private and public.
- Oversee or participate in on site inspections and condition investigations of various structures.
- Perform evaluations of structures based on their existing condition.
- Prepare technical reports and memos and participate in presentations as required.
- Perform site inspections and contract administrator duties during construction phase of projects.
- Review Contractor shop drawings.
- Prepare and allocate budgets and prepare proposals for obtaining new work.
- Work within the assigned project budget and schedule.
- Perform quality control reviews of structural services provided by the Company.
- Manage junior engineers, technicians, clerical staff, etc.
- Report to senior management.
- Degree in civil/structural engineering (preference to have Masters in Structural Engineering)
- Valid, Class G Ontario Drivers License
- Professional Engineer Licensed in Ontario
- Minimum 7 years' experience in structural engineering
- Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
- Proficient with Ontario Building Code and/or Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code as well as standards for design of concrete, steel, and wood structures.
- Advanced knowledge of structural analysis software
- Proficient with AutoCAD (Microstation an asset)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
- Experience with design of concrete, steel, and wood structures.
