Full Job Description

RESPONSIBILTIES

Responsibilities For This Position Are Summarized Below

  • Perform calculations and prepare specification and detail designs for various structures in accordance with applicable codes and industry standards.
  • Supervise the production of design drawings.
  • Establish and maintain cordial, close relationships with clients or their representatives.
  • Lead and manage multi-disciplinary projects with various clients private and public.
  • Oversee or participate in on site inspections and condition investigations of various structures.
  • Perform evaluations of structures based on their existing condition.
  • Prepare technical reports and memos and participate in presentations as required.
  • Perform site inspections and contract administrator duties during construction phase of projects.
  • Review Contractor shop drawings.
  • Prepare and allocate budgets and prepare proposals for obtaining new work.
  • Work within the assigned project budget and schedule.
  • Perform quality control reviews of structural services provided by the Company.
  • Manage junior engineers, technicians, clerical staff, etc.
  • Report to senior management.

Qualifications

  • Degree in civil/structural engineering (preference to have Masters in Structural Engineering)
  • Valid, Class G Ontario Drivers License
  • Professional Engineer Licensed in Ontario
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in structural engineering
  • Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
  • Proficient with Ontario Building Code and/or Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code as well as standards for design of concrete, steel, and wood structures.
  • Advanced knowledge of structural analysis software
  • Proficient with AutoCAD (Microstation an asset)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience with design of concrete, steel, and wood structures.
