Reporting to Head of Engagement & Advancement, the Advancement Officer is responsible for the planning, organizing, writing, and administering of the Gallery’s public sector funding contracts, as well as administration of the database and general departmental support. 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all public sector funding applications are submitted accurately and on time 
  • Liaise with other departments to prepare funding proposals and reporting 
  • Research, prepare, track, and report to public, foundation, and staff grant submissions and other corporate funding proposals for Gallery programs and projects 
  • Ensure systems are in place for funding submissions and reporting 
  • Research new funding sources and stay up-to-date with best practices for public and foundation funding 
  • Administer the donor database, including integrity of data and the delivery of lists 
  • Assist with membership and individual giving planning and administration, such as appeals, impact/data reports, donor recognition, stewardship initiatives, and events 
  • Assist with sponsorship duties, including prospecting, matrices, meetings, and fulfillment 
  • Ongoing performance expectations relating to equity and anti-racism, including ongoing education, confrontation of personal biases, application of the anti-racism policy and equitable decision-making. 
  • Other duties as assigned 


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post secondary degree   
  • Minimum three years’ experience in fundraising 
  • Proficient at developing written proposals and conducting research 
  • Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising software knowledge to identify and cultivate supporters 
  • Experience with spreadsheets, cash flow, budget preparation, expense tracking, and meeting revenue targets 
  • Enthusiastic ability to prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines 
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
