The Finance Assistant is responsible for performing administrative, clerical and accounts payable related tasks through adherence to corporate policies and procedures in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner.
What does the Finance Assistant do?
- Cross reference invoices with receiving documents and purchase orders.
- Verify totals on invoices and assign general ledger accounts.
- Provide accurate data entry into the Accounts Payable system.
- Follow up with management and department staff on overdue invoices and approval requests.
- Research and resolve account discrepancies.
- Set up, track and report on inventory cycle counts and inventory accuracy.
- Use accounting knowledge to complete appropriate and accurate inventory adjustments.
- Assist with weekly and monthly inventory reporting requirements, including analysis of consignment and rental inventory, and branch transfers.
- Provide backup support for the main phone line and ensure accuracy of call transfers.
- Assist other staff in the finance department as required.
- Protect the organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Post secondary degree or certificate, or equivalent experience, in business administration or similar discipline.
- 2+ years related experience working in a Finance or Office Admin position.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs and various accounting software applications.
- Ability to present information in spreadsheets and shared documents.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proven organizational skills combined with good analytical and problem solving capability.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
