The Manufacturing & Process Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Nationality Requirements

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Design & Optimization - Develop and improve manufacturing processes for new or existing products. Analyze workflows and eliminate bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Implement lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma to reduce waste and variation.
  • Equipment & Tooling - Select, install, and maintain machinery and tools used in production.
  • Design custom tools or fixtures when necessary.
  • Work with maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
  • Quality Control & Assurance Ensure processes meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with QA/QC teams to maintain high product standards.
  • Process Documentation
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Ensure process consistency across shifts and operators.
  • Cost & Efficiency Improvements
  • Conduct time and motion studies.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce material waste, labor hours, and energy usage.
  • Contribute to cost-saving projects and return-on-investment (ROI) analyses. Lead, direct and manage work center layout changes and improvements including product flows and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Collaborate & work cross-functionally with design, production, quality, and supply chain teams.
  • Support new product introductions (NPIs) and ensure manufacturability.
  • Provide technical support to production staff.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Monitor production metrics (yield, scrap rates, cycle times, etc.).
  • Use statistical analysis to drive decisions and improvements.
  • Promote DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, and Improve & Control) methodology within the team and the business as a whole.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent. Training as Lean or Lean Six-Sigma Blackbelt would be considered an asset.

Experience

  • 10+ years experience as an Industrial/Manufacturing engineer).

Technical Competencies

  • Analytical and mathematical mind, capable of evaluating and solving various complex problems
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects, processes, and the entire engineering team on track
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience

Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
