Operations Support
- Conduct onsite inspections to evaluate safe work practices.
- Perform internal audits of work practices and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
- Perform observation behavioral assessments, assisting in recommended corrective and preventive actions.
- Educate workers about GFL’s safety policy and procedures and essential safety standards.
- Support external audit functions in assigned areas.
- Maintain a culture of safety excellence through the support of GFL’s Safety Manual.
- Assist in the investigation process and determining root causes and corrective actions with support from Regional EHS manager.
- Review, classify and report on injuries, property damage, and environmental events.
- Assist with safety training (may include) new employee orientations.
- Maintain a working knowledge of safety theory, current regulations, and GFL policies.
- Generate weekly safety talk (4/year)
- Support the EHS team in ensuring conformance with all aspects of applicable regulations, laws and orders and all company policies and procedures and directives from leadership.
- Able to demonstrate leadership and maturity when dealing with uncertainty.
- Guide the operations team providing constructive support for decisions made.
- Support Operations when an employee has an occupational injury, specifically:
- Follow notification via our incident notification process, reach out to supervisor/manager to provide guidance in steps to take with injured employee in alignment with Disability Management.
- Support the sites to ensure proper documentation is completed within the required time frame from the employee by the supervisor/manager.
- Support the Return-to-Work program in collaboration with operations and the Disability Management Team.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Travel as required throughout region.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Self-motivated to manage workload.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation
