Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced Senior District Manager to lead and develop a team of District Managers across multiple hauling sites. This role requires a seasoned leader with a strong track record in operations, people development, and business performance. You will be instrumental in elevating leadership capabilities, driving operational excellence, and executing strategic initiatives.
  • The ideal candidate is an established manager of managers with a passion for team building, coaching, and business leadership. You will be accountable for overseeing financial performance, safety compliance, productivity, and employee development across multiple locations including Waterloo, Mount Forest, London, and Sarnia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop District Managers to become stronger leaders and business operators.
  • Create and implement operational plans aligned with long-term business goals.
  • Regularly review performance metrics and establish appropriate performance measures.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers, ensuring effective execution of organizational strategies.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for operating units; provide support to managers for cost control and optimization.
  • Oversee personnel needs including hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Attend P&L reviews and ensure execution of operational programs regarding routing, maintenance, and cost control.
  • Maintain compliance with Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S), and other provincial and federal regulations.
  • Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety, productivity, and accountability.

Basic Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent required. High School Diploma/GED with two (2) additional years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of operations management experience, including at least 3 years managing a team of two or more.
  • Preferred: Waste Industry experience in a senior operations role overseeing multiple sites and managing managers.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong leadership experience managing Managers across multiple sites.
  • Proven P&L ownership and financial management capabilities.
  • In-depth understanding of operations, customer service, labor relations, safety regulations, and community engagement.
  • Experience implementing OH&S programs and managing equipment specifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, mentoring, and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
