What You’ll Do

***This is a temporary position for 6 months, with the possibility of extension to full-time.***

As the Driver, you will d rive/operate a range of delivery vehicles over public roads in order to move or deliver explosive products to company or customer sites in a timely and safe manner. You will operate rigid-frame, engine-powered machines (skid steer or equivalent). Other duties will include:

  • Possess basic mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs or maintenance while in the field, deliver and off load product within DN H&S Management System procedures and practices
  • Drive/operate a range of delivery vehicles over public roads in order to move or deliver explosive products to company or customer sites in a timely and safe manner. Driving duties will also frequently extend off of public roads to include mine locations/roads, FSRs, off-road field locations and other such potentially difficult terrain
  • Load and unload all trucks, and maintain magazines, sites and inventories
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain safe working conditions in the shop, while driving and operating equipment and while on blast sites in order to protect personal safety and safety of others
  • Prepare and maintain all records and reports concerning the handling and transportation of explosive products, including safety, and the use and detonation of explosives, in order to ensure accurate billing, regulatory compliance and performance history
  • Knowledgeable of and consistently apply practices consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, SOPs, work site, and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work accurately with numbers and perform simple mathematical calculations
  • Proactively handle safety issues and practice Take 5! Process. Undertake Job Step Analysis in order to assess risks when approaching new tasks
  • Maintain safe working conditions and assure that all crew members and others on the site follow all safety and regulatory procedures and practices to ensure a safe and successful event
  • Responsible for Inventory Management

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum Class 3 with Air Brakes endorsements required
  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 12-24 months of mechanical, commercial driving, explosives or related work experience
  • Must satisfy the requirements for NRCAN Explosives Handling Permit
  • Acquire and maintain all appropriate licenses and certifications required by Federal and Provincial entities
  • Satisfactory completion of and demonstrated competencies in DNCI specified training modules, including technical, regulatory and other applicable skill-based training
  • Experience with Inventory Management a plus
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English, and to communicate in writing and verbally
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
