What You Will Do

  • Conduct installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of artificial lift and other wellsite automation systems, including both hardware and software components.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of automation equipment and address any technical issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with customers, engineers, field operations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement solutions for automation processes.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries during all types of work.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards related to any systems and equipment used.
  • Follow company safe driving practices, including adherence to speed limits, traffic rules, and policies.
  • Maintain vehicle inspections, repairs, and routine maintenance as well as accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, inspections, and fuel consumption.
  • Create and submit detailed paperwork for field work, billing purposes, documenting parts sold, work done, materials used, and hours worked.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records for shipping and receiving activities related to automation and all other components.
  • Document all fieldwork activities, including equipment configurations, software changes, and maintenance procedures.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels of automation and other components, ensuring an adequate supply of spare parts.
  • Keep track of stock levels, order new components when necessary, and maintain organized inventory records.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers by providing excellent service and addressing their needs effectively.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, and service requests promptly and professionally.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, IT, and subject matter experts, to integrate automation systems with existing infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with project managers and coordinators to ensure seamless execution of automation projects.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, sharing insights, updates, and challenges related to ongoing projects and tasks.
  • Identify inefficiencies in internal processes and propose improvements to enhance workflow, increase productivity, reduce operational costs, and grow continuous improvement.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives, working with cross-functional teams to implement changes that benefit the entire organization.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure that automation systems meet specified standards and client requirements.
  • Manage warranty claims and repairs, ensuring that faulty components are replaced or repaired promptly under warranty agreements.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical expertise during client meetings, presentations, and demonstrations.
  • Assist in identifying client requirements and proposing suitable well site automation solutions to meet their needs, contributing to successful sales strategies.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure customer satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
  • Gather feedback from clients regarding their experiences with our automation systems, using this information to improve services and offerings.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to create enticing proposals for upselling opportunities, contributing to increased sales revenue.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies in the automation artificial lift sector.
  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop promotional materials, case studies, and success stories highlighting the company's well site automation solutions and their impact on clients' businesses.
  • Participate in marketing events, trade shows, and exhibitions to showcase the company's automation expertise and attract potential clients.

Position Details

  • Working on customer sites, remote locations
  • Working at the Estevan facility

  • Mainly working day shift operations, with overtime as required
  • Motor vehicle record check
  • Rotating shift between day and afternoon shift (night shift may be required dependent on business conditions)
  • Weekend or night shift may be required dependent on business conditions

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years minimum experience working with wellsite automation and controls.
  • Experience with Well Site Automation and controls.
  • Experience in managing automation projects, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating tasks.
  • Experience with Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for monitoring and controlling industrial processes.
  • Thorough understanding of Sucker Rod and PCP Automation Systems in the oil and gas industry used for artificial lift.
  • Proficient in rod lift automation systems, with a deep understanding of their theory and operation.
  • Understanding of electrical circuits, motor control, and electrical safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of industrial sensors, transmitters, and control devices used to measure and control variables such as temperature, pressure, flow, and level.
  • Strong grasp of Variable Speed Drives, AC motor theory, and their practical application.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking protocols (such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus) and network configurations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Demands

  • Pre-employment testing including drug & alcohol, vision, auditory, background check and physical demands assessment required upon hire
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee will be required to work in an outdoor environment, being exposed to hot and cold temperatures.
  • Regular bending, crawling, climbing, twisting, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 8 hours/day

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Electrical Certificate

Certifications

  • Journeyperson electrician certificate, or high school diploma and equivalent work experience
