GFL Environmental is looking for a Sales Manager to join our team based out of Winnipeg, MB!

Sales Manager maintains and generates profitable revenue by leading a team of Account Executives, Account Managers and Sales Support personnel. Assists in developing and executing the Business Unit's Sales and Marketing Plan in order to improve revenue quality through price and service decisions. Drives enthusiasm within the Sales Team. Skilled in strategic planning and fostering a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manages, maintains and ensures the use of GFL sales tools (i.e. CRM, Customer Data, Pricing Tools, etc.). Ensures Sales Team is well-trained in the use of these tools.
  • Analyze lost business trends and recommends corrective actions.
  • Provide expert industry knowledge and trends to Sales team, customers and leadership.
  • Regularly meets with customers to ensure needs are being met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in preparation and organization of sales presentations to major accounts by effectively displaying and demonstrating products and services and emphasizing marketable features.
  • Develop and implement sales/retention strategies and plans to increase and maintain strong customer base.
  • Assist in identifying acquisition candidates and participate in the acquisition and merging process with targeted businesses.
  • Monitor and analyze competitor's pricing patterns in comparison to GFL Environmental Inc.'s pricing
  • Prepare and present market plans and competitive strategies to include in pricing models and bid preparation.
  • Maintain thorough product knowledge of all lines of business and develop plans for new products, new product ideas and new services.
  • Conduct customer waste stream analysis and develop appropriate proposals and/or quotations.
  • Perform field sales skills assessments on all assigned subordinates.
  • Schedule, conduct and document formal performance reviews.
  • Assist other members of the branch in the completion of the budget process and monthly budget measurement/forecasting.
  • Manage performance, expectations, coaching, counseling of the sales team.
  • Recruit, interview, hire and train sales team personnel.
  • Conform in all respects with applicable laws, regulations, ordinances and other orders and to all company policies, procedures and directives from leadership.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from a four (4) year college or university.
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in waste industry.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior knowledge of all product lines and equipment desired.
  • Possess valid driver's license.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and climb.
  • Visual Requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus due to the maneuvering of a motor vehicle.
  • Possess ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • Work involves extended periods of driving resulting in exposure to high vehicle traffic and extended periods of sitting.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions of heat, cold and humidity.
  • Noise level is usually moderate but can become loud.
  • Some overtime required, periodic flexibility required to attend evening or weekend events
