Summary

Operator in Training is an integral part of the production process and individuals in this role are being trained to run the sheeter. Individuals must understand and align business operations and as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Responsible for producing, inspecting, and shipping products.
  • Working as part of a team to maximize productivity and efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to learn new tasks.
  • Repetitive work.
  • Standing.
  • Ability to operate forklift and other require PIV’s as needed (training provided).
  • Assists Sheeter Operator to ensure they have all the required materials to run their jobs.
  • Feeding sheets into moving equipment (training is provided on an on-going basis)
  • Follow all safety and company rules and requirements.
  • Other duties and training as assigned and required for the role.

Background / Experience / Skills

  • Prior exposure to manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to read/interpret/complete information sheets/forms.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand/power tools preferred.
  • Excellent dexterity, hand-eye coordination required.
  • Excellent communicator (speaking/writing/listening/reading).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic math skills required - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Education / Knowledge

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Schedule Demands

  • All employees must be able to work all shifts, including but not limited to: day shift, afternoons, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays (as per the CBA), rotating 12 hour shifts, in a 24/7 production environment, without exception, as required. Candidates unable to work any of these shifts will not be considered for the role.

Physical Demands

  • Standing for extended periods. (8 - 12 hours).
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements, including pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, above shoulder lifting)
  • Routine lifting and occasional heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs).Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.
  • Noisy environment with fluctuating temperatures
