Our Asset Reliability Engineering team is expanding our presence in Calgary to support operations and reliability engineering.
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer who has knowledge and experience in the operation and construction of high voltage substations and medium voltage power distribution systems. The Opportunity

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer who has knowledge and experience in the operation and construction of high voltage substations and medium voltage power distribution systems. Join a high performing, multidisciplinary team and learn from experienced electrical engineers and field specialists. The successful candidate will directly influence and contribute to the operations of South Bow pipelines in both Canada and the US.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for the reliable operation of HV, MV and LV electrical systems
- Work closely with field operations and the Operations Engineering team to diagnose and respond to complex electrical problems while considering limitations imposed by safety, regulations, practicality, time constraints and cost
- Support other engineering teams by providing electrical engineering expertise in assessing risk and recommending solutions
- Identify opportunities and projects required to maximize reliability and/or reduce operating expenses
- Lead management of change from inception to implementation
- Create and authenticate construction work packages and implementation plans
- Develop maintenance and repair work scopes, and lead engineering studies
- Develop operating procedures and equipment lifecycle plans which focus on reliability
- Make decisions and recommendations on green and brown field projects
- Participate in developing specifications and standards for both operating and project development activities
- Oversee the work of third-party engineering service providers to ensure high quality engineering deliverables that comply with specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Travel to facilities in the US and Canada
- Work with utility partners to drive reliability and high quality power delivery
- Develop reliability strategies for a variety of electrical equipment
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with P.Eng.
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience
- Experience with HV substation equipment, protection and control, MV switchgear and MV/LV MCC
- Technical understanding of policy, codes, and standards, and draw upon past practice, industry knowledge for both Canadian and US facilities
- Experience with risk assessment processes and quantitative analysis
- Experience with an operating asset
- Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada and the US)
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record
