The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Canada Safety, the Safety Technician role supports the implementation of Safety, Emergency Management, and Industrial Hygiene Programs across Canadian operations. The position plays a key role in helping the Canada Safety team fulfill its mandate to develop and execute safety programs for Canada Gas business units and their supporting departments.
The Safety Technician will primarily focus on compliance-related activities while also supporting adherence to internal requirements and identifying continuous improvement opportunities. Key responsibilities include implementing safety programs, maintaining compliance-related initiatives, and coordinating incident management processes throughout Canada Gas operations.

The position plays a key role in helping the Canada Safety team fulfill its mandate to develop and execute safety programs for Canada Gas business units and their supporting departments.
The Safety Technician will primarily focus on compliance-related activities while also supporting adherence to internal requirements and identifying continuous improvement opportunities. Key responsibilities include implementing safety programs, maintaining compliance-related initiatives, and coordinating incident management processes throughout Canada Gas operations.

- Develop and implement safety related programs for non-operational and non-project departments.
- Maintain the Legal Registry for Canada Safety
- Support compliance in Canada to the Canada Labor Code and Canada Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
- Support the Safety programs, procedures, and compliance implementation.
- Support conformance to internal incident management deliverables such as monitoring and progressing corrective and preventative actions.
- Support maintenance of the Canada Gas emergency response program deliverables.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in a health or natural science-related discipline (e.g., Safety, Occupational Health, Physiology, Human Factors, Biology, Chemistry, Data Analytics, Business Administration)
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant safety or compliance experience
- Emerging knowledge of Canadian Provincial and Federal safety regulations
- Experience working with safety management systems and compliance documentation
- Developing interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities
- Emerging planning and organizational skills with ability to handle shifting priorities and multiple projects concurrently
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerBI, and Power Automate
- Basic understanding of incident investigation and corrective action processes
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements
- Experience in the Oil & Gas industry
- Familiar with legislative requirements governing Safety at the federal and provincial levels (CCOHS and other applicable Standards)
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills to work closely with field teams and management, and coordinate work with other appropriate technical resources
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to produce technical reports and make oral presentations
- Bilingual (French, English) would be an asset
- Have and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
- Up to 10% travel to other company locations within Canada.
