Description

At Xe, we live currencies. We provide a comprehensive range of currency services and products, including our Currency Converter, Market Analysis, Currency Data API and quick, easy, secure Money Transfers for individuals and businesses. We leverage technology to deliver these services through our website, mobile app and by phone. Last year, we helped over 300 million people access information about the currencies that matter to them and over 225,000 people used us to send money overseas.

In addition to those enumerated below, the Privacy Counsel’s (PC’s) chief responsibility is to provide privacy-related legal and risk guidance to Euronet entities within an assigned region. Following the Group Privacy Office’s Privacy Impact Assessment process, PCs will assess proposed Personal Data processing and, in addition to providing a risk-assessment, will also draft and review contract language related to the processing.

The hybrid role will be based out of our Newmarket office 3 days a week (Mon-Wed)

About This Role

U.S. Specific Requirements:

  • General understanding of existing and upcoming U.S. State privacy laws (i.e., CCPA, VCDPA), as well as GLBA and how it relates to the financial industry.
  • Interest in new developments in the U.S privacy arena
  • Ability to stay on top of major cases relating to privacy
  • Interest in how privacy intersects with other areas such as marketing and biometrics
  • Experience with contract drafting and negotiation
  • Experience with legal research particularity U.S. related but may occasionally be on an international scope given the nature of business
  • Experience working with Data Protection Agreements (DPA) is an asset

What You’ll Do

  • Showcase Your Data Privacy Expertise: Provide data protection and privacy program subject matter expertise to key stakeholders within Euronet. The successful candidate will work closely with the various lines of business in one or more geographic regions to help deliver practical plans and advice that will limit privacy risk and help to fulfill business objectives.
  • Agreement Writer Savvy and Negotiator: draft and review Data Privacy & Data Transfer Agreements, in coordination with local internal counsel. Provide privacy support in negotiations with third parties.
  • Privacy Regulatory Knowledge: Support Privacy Consultants regarding local regulatory requirements.
  • Policy Creator: Develop and review site Data Privacy and Cookie Notices amongst other Policies and Notices
  • Research and Document: Complex processing operations, ensuring appropriate lawful basis of processing and data transfer documentation.
  • Keeping Ahead of Industry Trends: Monitor changes in the evolving local regulatory regimes and share them with the Privacy Office team and local business leaders.
  • Privacy Standards Commitment: Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the principles of Privacy by Design.
  • Privacy Guru: Conduct, support and evaluate Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) activities, especially in the areas of developing new products & services, updating existing products & services, selecting third-party service providers and implementing new internal processes.
  • Manages Ambiguity: Provide support regarding the resolution of complex Data Subject Rights requests.
  • Process Oriented: Support the efficient operation and continuous improvement of the corporate breach reporting, data retention, data subject rights reporting, record of processing and PIA processes.
  • Show What You Know: Assist in the communication of the corporate privacy program to the business. Candidates are expected to demonstrate effective presentation and influencing skills.
  • Manage a Diverse Workload: Handle multiple projects at the same time. Candidates will also demonstrate the ability to keep track of multiple and varying regulatory obligations.

Position Requirements

  • Be a Qualified Lawyer: With experience in data privacy – especially in the creation of Data Privacy Agreements and Privacy Impact Assessments. With a minimum of 3 Years of professional experience.
  • Have Formal Privacy Training: Certification e.g., an IAPP-issued certification.
  • Professional Development: To a personal program of continuous privacy and professional education.
  • Tech Savvy: Have experience with and/or knowledge of various information security standards, tools, and systems.
  • Demonstrate Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills: Supported by well-developed analytical skills.
  • Multilingual: Be fluent in English; other languages are desirable.
  • Be Highly Organized and Independent: Capable of managing a wide range of diverse projects with minimal supervision.
