Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region.

PWPSD seeks a master teacher who is committed to student learning, equity and wellness and who possesses the skills and work ethic to engage students, staff, parents and community in the development of a research-driven, student centered, learning environment. We seek a teacher who is truly committed to on-going professional development and is adept at supporting all staff in their own professional growth. Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Current Alberta Teachers Certificate
  • Experience and/or graduate work in Literacy or Assessment would be considered an asset
  • You aspire for excellence in all competencies of the Teaching Quality Standard
  • You are committed to a research-driven professional practice and are able to work as part of a collaborative team

Responsibilities

  • Guide quality assessment practices to enhance student learning
  • Facilitate literacy intervention programs
  • Facilitate the ongoing use of diagnostic benchmark assessments
  • Plan, organize and conduct teacher training, conferences, or workshops
  • Mentor/coach teachers to support skill development
  • Introduce new forms of research-based pedagogy
  • Analyze school and district data
  • Review and suggest educational resources
