About the Role
Explore Edmonton is seeking a Travel Media Manager to lead our earned media strategy across regional, national, and international markets. You'll work with media, influencers, and industry partners to promote Edmonton’s tourism experiences, build compelling narratives, and drive media coverage that supports our visitor economy goals.
What you will do:
- Develop and implement travel media strategies and media relations plans.
- Write and distribute press releases and pitches; manage reactive media requests.
- Curate and maintain targeted media lists; update Edmonton’s TravMedia profile.
- Align with social and content teams to share influencer and user-generated content.
- Plan and host media visits, including itineraries, logistics, and on-site hosting.
- Collaborate with partners like Travel Alberta, Destination Canada, EIA, and others.
- Lead FAM tours and oversee media gifting and visit logistics.
- Attend marketplaces, pitch desksides, and foster strong media relationships.
- Manage travel media budgets, reporting, and program evaluation.
- Support international marketing initiatives and product development for export-ready experiences.
- Use tools like Agility PR for scoring and archiving coverage.
What You Bring
- Degree in Communications, PR, Marketing, or Tourism (advanced degree an asset).
- 3–5 years in media relations or public relations in tourism or a related field.
- Strong experience with FAM tours, media events, and influencer engagement.
- Knowledge of Edmonton's tourism products and global travel trends.
- Proficient in Travefy, TravMedia, and social media platforms.
- Excellent writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to manage budgets and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours.
