Principal Architect
VRIFY

About us:
VRIFY is positioned at the forefront of the mining industry's transformation, leveraging cutting-edge AI to revolutionize mineral exploration. With a focus on AI drill targeting, VRIFY is expanding its capabilities by synthesizing vast amounts of geological information. This integration enhances the precision and efficiency of exploration strategies, offering our clients innovative solutions that depart from traditional methods.
Our mission extends beyond technological advancement. We are committed to transforming how mining companies engage with investors, aiming to foster a more transparent and accountable mining investment ecosystem. VRIFY's technology enables immersive 3D and 360° presentations that provide investors with a vivid and detailed visual context, making complex geological data accessible and engaging.
As we continue to scale our platform and build out our technical foundations, we are looking for a Principal Architect who can bridge deep technical execution with strategic architectural thinking. This is a pivotal role that will drive technical direction, execute key proof-of-concepts, and ensure our software and infrastructure are built for long-term innovation and resilience.
We’re not just making software - we’re building a platform that powers a new era of mineral discovery. And we need a builder who can dream big, plan smart, and deliver hands-on.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the technical architecture across VRIFY’s platform—spanning backend services, infrastructure, data, and integration layers.
- Lead technical discovery and rapidly prototype key solutions that validate architecture and de-risk product delivery.
- Ensure all technology decisions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with both near-term product goals and long-term company vision.
- Collaborate with engineering, AI/ML, product, and design teams to translate business requirements into world-class technical solutions.
- Partner with leadership to align architectural direction with business outcomes, supporting both innovation and operational excellence.
- Guide engineers across domains with technical mentorship, architectural documentation, and pragmatic leadership.
- Evaluate and introduce tools, technologies, and architectural patterns that elevate platform performance, reliability, and velocity.
- Continuously assess and improve our cloud infrastructure (AWS) and DevOps practices, especially in areas of scalability, cost, and reliability.
Qualifications and Core Competencies:
- 10+ years in software engineering, with 3+ years in senior technical or architecture roles (Staff, Principal, or equivalent).
- Proven track record architecting and scaling distributed systems, modern web platforms, and cloud-native applications.
- Deep experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform strongly preferred).
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, with fluency in modern backend languages (e.g., Python, Go, TypeScript).
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical architecture across software and infrastructure domains.
- Comfort moving between deep technical work and strategic system design; equally confident writing code and drawing the big-picture diagram.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills; able to align teams and stakeholders around complex technical decisions.
Nice to have:
- Experience with geospatial systems, AI/ML pipelines, or data-rich platforms.
- Familiarity with architectural frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) or experience driving enterprise architecture initiatives.
- Background working in fast-moving startup or scale-up environments.
- Experience with DevOps, SRE practices, CI/CD automation, and observability tooling.
What We Offer:
- Competitive Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 CAD
- Health Benefits: Extensive coverage, medical, dental, and vision plans.
- Paid Time Off (PTO): Including vacation days, sick/personal care days, public holidays plus extra time during holiday season.
- Work-Life Balance: Flexible work hours, remote work options plus option to use work space in Downtown Vancouver
- Professional Development: Career growth program to help our team advance their career.
- Performance Bonuses
- Wellness Programs: Fitness allowance, work from home allowance, mental health support.
- Retirement Plan (RRSP/DPSP)
Terms of employment:
- Full-time, Permanent, Remote work in Canada.
- Completion of a background check will be required for this position.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
