Modern Niagara is seeking a dedicated and experienced VDC Mechanical Area Manager to join our dynamic team in Vaughan, Ontario. As a VDC Mechanical Area Manager, you will lead a regional team of VDC Designers and Project Leads, ensuring the seamless design and completion of installation models and drawings. Your leadership will be crucial in shaping the future of Modern Niagara’s infrastructure through innovative projects and collaborative efforts that redefine industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a dynamic team, ensuring department resources are trained and engaged.
  • Proactively manage project deadlines and deliverables, implementing QAQC status checks and ensuring departmental consistency.
  • Foster collaboration between the VDC team and other departments, promoting coordinated models.
  • Oversee the performance of the regional VDC team, ensuring projects are on track in terms of budget, schedule, manpower, and overall profitability.
  • Implement proper procedures, system optimization strategies, and time-saving initiatives.
  • Facilitate consistent BIM execution for coordinated project delivery with team leaders from various design disciplines.
  • Review and report on the status of ongoing projects, including completion, coordination, schedule, and optimization.
  • Develop BIM implementation and execution plans, as well as project qualification statements.
  • Schedule regional VDC staffing assignments with construction/project managers.
  • Write pre-qualifications, bid packages, and budgets for pursuits related to VDC scope.
  • Ensure quality assurance for all VDC produced documents.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of VDC/BIM design experience, and at least 5 years dedicated to managing teams and overseeing regional operations.
  • Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or construction technology, or extensive experience in a related field; Eng or CET considered an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with contractual delivery methods.
  • Solid understanding of BIM standards (national and international), guidelines, and protocols.
  • Mastery of Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Proven track record of building successful teams and motivating team members.
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration skills, adept in presentations and providing insight to the VDC team.
  • Experience in conflict and crisis management, maintaining effective relationships with clients, owners, and consultants.
  • Sense of urgency and drive to succeed, comfortable working within a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
