QA Engineer

MatchBox is urgently seeking an experienced QA Engineer for a permanent position for our Vancouver based client. This role can work fully remotely from anywhere across Canada.

The ideal candidate for the QA Engineer position typically self-identifies as a detail-oriented team player who is driven by curiosity, is eager to learn, and has a keen mind for troubleshooting and problem solving. They would be hands-on with all types of manual and functional testing. In addition, they would be comfortable interfacing with web based UIs, APIs, and back end systems. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of implementing and maintaining automation frameworks using object-oriented programming (i.e. not record and playback), as well as scripting to execute tests as needed.

What You'll Do

• Analyze requirements and user stories
• Develop focused test plans and test cases
• Test product features and interactions at the functional and system level
• Develop in a test framework to validate new and existing functionality
• Execute test plans (feature, system, robustness, stress, scaling, performance) for feature and regression testing
• Take ownership of the establishment, maintenance, and requirements for the testing environments
• Engage with developers and other stakeholders to investigate, isolate, and reproduce defects
• Projects or duties outlined as the QA Manager sees fit

Qualifications / Experience

• Technical diploma or degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other related areas
• 5+ years of QA experience with 2+ years of hands-on test automation experience; developing, executing and troubleshooting automated tests
• One or more functional programming languages or scripting languages such as Java, .Net, C#, Javascript, and Selenium or Cypress for test automation are preferred
• Familiar with enterprise database systems such as MySql
• Fundamental understanding of Software Development Life Cycle and Agile Development
• Knowledge of software quality, testing, and reporting methodologies
• Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving and debugging abilities
• A positive attitude in the workplace and the ability to drive change
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Good understanding of and experience with VoIP and CRM software
