RESPONSIBILITIES


The Regional Market Access Manager (RMAM) is one of 3 RMAMs at Lilly Canada responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with priority payers and related stakeholders within all 4 Atlantic provinces, Ontario and the Federal Drug Plans. Key responsibilities include preparing, gaining, improving, and maintaining market access for all of Lilly’s innovative products.


An essential part of the role is to collaborate with the PRA Head Office team to support national PRA brand strategy development, HTA and provincial submissions, pCPA negotiations, provincial listing agreements and secure timely formulary listings with public payers.


Importantly, the RMAM (Ontario-Atlantic) supports the Oncology and Immunology Innovation Readiness, brand strategies and plans by closely partnering with Corporate Affairs (Stakeholder Engagement Managers), GR/Policy, Medical Affairs (MSL, MED and CRS) and Marketing colleagues. Ensuring rapid access and reimbursement for all newly launched products in Canada is a core responsibility.


The RMAM must have a deep understanding of Lilly’s therapeutic areas and brands and be knowledgeable of health technology assessments and provincial reimbursement processes to fulfil their responsibilities.


Key responsibilities of the RMAM role are highlighted below:


  • Identify key decision-makers and influencers for 5 provincial and 4 Federal drug plans and cancer agencies in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and PEI (Atlantic Canada). The four Federal Drug plans include: NIHB, CSC, VAC and DND.
  • Establish relationships based on mutual respect and trust with all drug plan decision-makers and influencers including, but not limited to, drug plan formulary managers and staff and therapeutic advisors to public drug plan managers.
  • Build and maintain Account Plans for all 9 payer accounts that are aligned to the national PRA brand strategy, with actionable tactical plans and metrics that support the national brand access goals.
  • In collaboration with the PRA Head office team, develop compliant pre-launch materials for payer decision-makers and budget holders to prepare the drug plans market for the market entry of Lilly’s pipeline products.
  • Supporting access stakeholders and advocates including physicians and patient organizations with an interest in Lilly’s therapeutics.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Affairs, PR/Communications and GR/Policy Teams to provide payer insights & expertise on discussions with stakeholders including patient advocacy organizations and the political and bureaucratic level beyond drug plans.
  • Collaborate with the PRA Head Office team to ensure timely development of formulary submissions that meet all provincial requirements – therapeutic, health economic and budget impact.
  • Act as primary contact for provincial formulary listings, and selected Pan Canadian Pricing Alliance negotiations, working in close coordination with the PRA head office Team and Associate Director of Pricing.
  • Monitor PLAs/formulary listings to ensure minimization of risk of delisting or restriction; renegotiate PLAs as they expire to ensure minimization of risk and optimization of reimbursement.
  • Provide support to the PRA Head Office team on HTA and pCPA strategies including but not limited to, stakeholder mapping exercise, development of advocacy objectives in key therapy areas (thought leaders & advocacy groups), levering insights to inform value propositions; and prioritize work across therapy areas etc.
  • Provide regular updates to Sales, Marketing, Corporate Affairs and GR/Policy Teams regarding provincial reimbursement policy changes or trends.


This role reports to the Associate Director, Market Access.


This RMAM role is field based, with occasional travel to payer and stakeholder meetings throughout Ontario and Atlantic Canada as determined by the supervisor and business needs.


SKILLS


Education and training:


  • Significant market access or related experience (5+ years); this may include time spent in market access or policy fields. Familiarity with Lilly therapeutic areas of focus and products an asset.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry. Strong science background is an asset. Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
  • The Regional Market Access Manager (RMAM) should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with and influence diverse customer groups and positively represent Eli Lilly at all times. Negotiation experience is an asset. They should be highly self-directed with strong initiative and effort. Well-developed communication skills will be necessary to persuade and influence customers. The ability to problem solve for diverse issues is necessary. Highly developed organizational skills are also necessary.
