About The Role

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Enterprise Accounting and Reporting, this position is a key team member who leads the development of ATB’s accounting policies and our external financial statements, including all related reporting material. The Director is responsible for providing comprehensive and appropriate accounting treatment for ATB in accordance with IFRS accounting standards. Communication skills are key as you will work with a variety of stakeholders across ATB along with our external auditors. You will also provide sound and relevant accounting advice to various teams across ATB. Striving to be best in class in this area you will be detail-oriented, with a sharp mindset. Your ability to tell a smart, simple story around complex topics and being a leader as well as a team player are key elements to being all in and being part of a winning team.

Accountabilities

  • Staying up to date on accounting standard updates and ensuring ATB complies with IFRS.
  • Participating in the evaluation and implementation of accounting and reporting standards, including the development or refinement of current practices, policies and procedures.
  • Being a key contact for the external auditors and the Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICOFR) group.
  • To develop and produce financial statements that meet auditing and accounting standards within tight deadlines all while maintaining a strong control environment.
  • Continuously drive change and add value by evolving current processes and leading transformation projects, identifying opportunities for streamlining and automation.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Participate and support special projects and other technical accounting matters as they arise

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • University Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance required along with a Chartered Professional Accountant designation
  • 8+ years of comparable experience, specifically in external financial reporting
  • Strong analytical skills and acute attention to detail with the ability to meet multiple deliverables
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills
  • Technical proficiency and the ability to understand data flows
  • Ability to think outside the box while providing strong analysis and insight
  • A background with an audit firm or financial institution preferred
