We are seeking an intrapreneurial leader who is excited by the opportunity to hold an equity stake in the company they help grow. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will provide leadership, oversight, and coordination across multiple subsidiaries and affiliated companies of Laurentide. This includes financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.

What You Bring To The Table

In addition to ensuring timely and accurate financial statements, tax filings, and other reporting, the Controller will:

  • Supervise the accounting teams of various subsidiaries and support their professional development to ensure alignment with group growth and strategic goals
  • Maintain the integrity of business and reporting systems and accounting data, including ongoing risk assessments and implementation of necessary improvements
  • Lead the budgeting process across subsidiaries and monitor performance against targets
  • Take a leadership role in designing and managing a shared services structure for finance and accounting
  • Develop and update financial forecasts, and consolidate monthly results
  • Build collaborative relationships with business unit leaders to help achieve financial and operational objectives
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and government agencies
  • Develop, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure financial and operational health
  • Implement and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and systems
  • Conduct financial and operational analyses and participate in strategic initiatives as needed
  • Most importantly, challenge the status quo with a proactive mindset to drive continuous improvement

Essential Skills And Qualifications To Be Successful

  • CPA designation required
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in a public accounting firm
  • Solid technical knowledge in accounting, taxation, and external financial reporting
  • Excellent command of French, with proficiency in English required to communicate with external stakeholders and partners outside Quebec
  • Clear and concise written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across functions and seniority levels
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to lead and develop teams
  • Proven ability to implement and manage change
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and a demonstrated ability to learn quickly
