PATH is seeking a Senior Accountant to join a growing team of dedicated real estate professionals. The Senior Accountant is responsible for full cycle accounting and reporting for PATH’s corporate entities. As a part of the Accounting Team, Senior Accountants also work closely with the finance, development and construction teams.

The Responsibilities

  • Full cycle accounting for several corporate entities
  • Preparation of quarterly consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules and internal reporting
  • Preparation of quarterly tax provision
  • Monitoring and coordinating of corporate cash requirements and movements
  • Work with Manager to coordinate assurance and tax engagements – preparing/managing deliverables, fielding inquires, detailed review, ensuring timely completion and reporting.
  • Assistance in preparation of all other tax compliance and tax planning deliverables
  • Coordination of annual corporate governance (Annual returns, shareholders resolutions etc)
  • Ongoing maintenance of tax tracking schedules (Safe Income, FAPI, Surplus, E&P, GRIP, PUC/ACB)
  • Assist in implementation and management of internal controls, business processes and procedures
  • Research applicable accounting and tax issues, including preparation of memorandums and supporting quantitative analysis
  • Transaction support
  • Assist with special projects, transactions, assignments, and Ad hoc requests
  • Mentor and support junior staff


Qualifications

  • Public practice background with exposure to tax preparation and tax accounting desired
  • Experience with construction or real estate industries an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA)
  • 3+ years of industry accounting or public practice experience
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Sage Intacct a great asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills – professional, friendly, courteous and an ability to build relationships
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and complete projects within tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated time management and planning skills; ability to actively manage competing priorities
  • Attention to detail is critical for success in this role
  • Accounting knowledge specifically for real estate under ASPE
