Our growing investment practice is looking for a talented, hardworking consultant to be based in our Vancouver or Alberta office, serving Eckler’s clients primarily in Western Canada, but also across the country.
To fulfill this role, we are looking for a Senior Candidate who will provide advice to fiduciaries of defined benefit, target benefit and defined contribution pension funds, endowments/foundations, First Nation Trusts, corporations and other institutional asset pools to make the best risk adjusted return decisions considering the liabilities and spending commitments that these assets support.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide investment advice to a wide range of institutional clients such as policy formation, strategic asset allocation, and portfolio design
- Work with Eckler’s Modelling and Risk Management team to complete Asset Liability Studies
- Manage all aspects of assigned consulting relationships
- Participate in Eckler’s ongoing investment strategy and investment manager research
- Industry participation, including attending industry events and conferences as well as contributing to the industry through speaking engagements and written materials
- Business development by drafting, reviewing and responding to RFPs; building Eckler’s brand through promotion of thought leadership; sourcing new opportunities through industry participation and contacts

What you offer:
- Comfortable presenting to Boards and senior leaders
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with both internal and external clients
- Strong project management skills combined with an ability and willingness to meet tight deadlines
- Strong investment analytical abilities
- Passion for investing
- 10+ years of investment industry related experience, preferably at a consulting firm
- Familiarity with the challenges faced by defined benefit, target benefit and defined contribution pension funds
Assets
- Undergraduate degree with finance, investment or a math focus
- Completion of the CFA program or similar preferred
- Experience or qualifications in financial risk management or actuarial science
