Purpose

Leads and oversees CB Project Portfolio Management and Governance ensuring successful execution of initiatives in alignment with CB Business strategies, and in compliance with Bank’s policy.

Accountabilities

  • Provide oversight, support and monitoring for all aspects of CB Portfolio Management aligned to CB strategy; and in compliance to Strategic Investment Portfolio (SIP) Policy and Execution Standards, and Divisional PMO (DPMO) processes
  • Implement structure and processes for improved transparency and effective decision making to enable effective project portfolio performance
  • Develops portfolio insights and opportunities through systemic improvements leveraging various Tools
  • Contributes actively to CB Executive Forums and Committee; builds agenda to provide data insights, succinct conclusions, insightful recommendations; and creates strategic presentations to faciliate effective conversations and decision making.
  • Compliance to DPMO KPIs and Executive reporting; and actively represents the team in various forums with EPMO, Enterprise Delivery Framework forums, and Control Functions.
  • Leads large scale change management initiatives across CB Business lines and project teams.
  • Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Enterprise PMO, Project Controls, Finance, Planning , Value Realization teams, and CB Business teams.
  • Collaborates effectively with peers and functional teams to bring a holistic view of CB Portfolio management
  • Actively seeks and evaluates opportunities for increased efficiency through automation and works with key stakeholders to implement changes as appropriate.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Dimensions

  • The candidate will be required to manage large scale Canadian banking portfolio with complex structure across CB Business Lines
  • This role interacts with various stakeholders including cross functional teams, CB Business Line stakeholders, and Enterprise partners (EPMO, EDF, Project Controls etc.)
  • It is essential that the incumbant be proactive, eager to learn, able to work independently and have a 'Can Do' attitude.
  • Superior leadership skills, a strong ability to mentor and develop others, excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
  • Facilitation skills with demonstrated experience in running brainstorming and problem solving sessions
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to expected timelines

Education/Experience

  • Minimum education level of a University Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • Certification related to Project management, Scrum, or Scaled Agile
  • Working towards or have CPA or other accounting designation is a plus
  • 5+ years experience working in Financial Sector or Banking industry is preferred, preferably within Finance or Project Management.
  • Strong knowledge and/or experience of End-to-End Project Life Cycle and Software Development Lifecycle
  • Strong Knowledge and/or experience of Bank’s Policies and Procedures
  • Exposure to stakeholder management across highly matrixed organizations
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and similar Tools
  • Strong knowledge of data management, aggregation and analysis techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and experience with presentations
  • Strong business acumen, planning and organization skills
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking
  • Flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing environment
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and time commitments
  • Strong work ethic, continuous improvement mindset with a can-do attitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
