About The Opportunity

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OUTPATIENT CARE:

The Community Pediatrics AssociatePhysician a licensed physician employed by Nova Scotia Health to provide medical care under the supervision of a fully licensed physician. The Associate Physician will have clearly defined clinical duties within the Department of Community Pediatrics in outpatient setting. The Community Pediatric Associate Physician would primarily be responsible for direct patient care activities under the supervision of an attending Pediatrician. The Associate Physician will report directly to the Central Zone Executive Medical Director through the department of Primary Health Care.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Make regular rounds with the clinical supervisor.
  • Liaise with nurses, attending staff, crisis workers and other members of the health care team in the development and management of the overall patient care plan.
  • Communicate with patients, families (with consent), and other physicians and medical practitioners concerning patient care.
  • Manage the day-to-day care of patients, including writing medical orders, in consultation with the clinical supervisor and clinic staff.
  • Complete medical records and provide reports, etc following NSH patient privacy and documentation standards.
  • Perform assessments and examinations within the scope of their demonstrated competence and privileges and according to established policies and protocols.
  • Contribute to a respectful workplace.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

About You

  • Must meet the requirements to obtain a Clinical Assistant License from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia ( http://cpsns.ns.ca/definedlicense.aspx )
  • Must have obtained (in writing) Review of Qualifications from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia prior to application deadline. Please upload this with your application
  • CMPA coverage required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Lie Support (PALS) required
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Must be able to promote and maintain good interpersonal skills
  • Completion of the equivalence of a rotating internship.
  • Postgraduate training and experience in Community Pediatrics is an asset.
  • Experience in active general or family practice in the community would be considered an asset.
  • Physical demand - Must be able to sit, stand, walk and perform duties as outlined above
  • Mental and Visual demand – High; must be able to deal with stressful situations
  • Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

  • Permanent Full-time position / 96 Hours Bi-weekly
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays

Compensation And Benefits

$52.70 - $67.13 Hourly
