Position Summary

Under general direction, the Production Drafter is responsible for processing mechanical designs, creating and testing parametric automated SolidWorks models, and generating production documentation to support manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize SolidWorks and AutoCAD to create complex 2D and 3D parametric drawings for elevator components and products.
  • Improve and develop designs for elevator components, ensuring functionality and manufacturability.
  • Manage engineering system improvement projects and implement new processes.
  • Oversee the implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and integrate new systems into production.
  • Supervise the manufacturing of new components and assemblies to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Provide support to the production line by resolving assembly issues, tolerance concerns, and ensuring the accuracy of SolidWorks models and drawings.
  • Create and manage data used in the MRP system (MK), including item data, bills of material (BOM), and routings.
  • Develop and establish "best practices" for mechanical design and documentation, incorporating these into the ISO 9001 documentation standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter, able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • College degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing and engineering, with a focus on tube bending.
  • High mechanical aptitude with a strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing practices.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D modeling software).
  • Familiar with engineering drawing practices, including ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5M standards for dimensions and tolerances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other related software tools.
