About The Role

Innocap's Investment Team is looking for a Portfolio Monitoring Specialist who is enthusiastic about using data to tell stories and solve problems. Within the Investment department, the Portfolio Monitoring Team delivers actionable insights and advanced portfolio analytics to support client’s investment decision-making and portfolio oversight. The Specialist will be responsible for monitoring and providing insightful analysis of key aspects of the client’s absolute return investments. The Specialist’s primary responsibilities include to:

Enhance the client selection, allocation, and monitoring process:

  • Develop a deep understanding of manager’s investment strategies by performing investment due diligence on new funds and co-investment opportunities.
  • Develop true insights on portfolio’s risk and return profiles, understand hedge fund manager investment rationales, and deliver actionable analysis to external clients.
  • Partner effectively with the Portfolio Analytics Team to drive analytical solutions and market research forward.

Develop Strong Client Engagement

  • Become the expert and a key contributor to the client’s selection, allocation, rebalancing, and portfolio construction processes.
  • Use data to create a story. Create impactful visual displays of quantitative and qualitative information to provide tailored investment insights.
  • Work closely with clients to identify new absolute return investment opportunities.

Primary Qualifications & Skills

  • Higher education in a relevant field or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CFA designation is considered an asset.
  • Desired seniority: mid-senior level.
  • Extensive work experience in reporting roles within investment management, pension funds, or financial services industries.
  • Experience in managing and reviewing periodic deliverables for management reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of market trends and competitive dynamics.
  • Strong knowledge of absolute return strategies and the investment industry, including performance measurement and key risk metrics.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in hedge fund selection, monitoring, or direct risk-taking across asset classes and strategies.
  • Analytical, detail- and accuracy-oriented, curious, and resourceful with a proven ability to answer challenging questions and work in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (French and English), with the ability to conceptualize and articulate ideas and information to internal and external stakeholders.
