Our Housing and Community Development Department is looking for a dedicated Youth Program Assistant to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
The Youth Program Assistant supports youth engagement within the Housing & Community Development department through a three-year CBYF initiative. Key duties include co-facilitating the Youth Advisory Council, assisting with the Youth Career Discovery Expo, and supporting a youth micro-grant program. The role involves event planning, application review, community engagement, and gathering youth perspectives for departmental initiatives. While working under supervision, the assistant exercises some discretion and informal leadership. The position requires flexibility for occasional evening or weekend activities and is limited to candidates aged 18–24 due to grant requirements.
Qualifications
Experience: Applicants should have 6 months to 1 year of experience in youth engagement, leadership roles, or community programming, ideally with lived experience as a youth in Grande Prairie. Additional consideration is given to those with experience in youth-focused councils or committees in a leadership capacity. Education: requires a high school diploma, with preference given to candidates who have completed post-secondary coursework in social sciences, community development, or related fields Additional requirements: Due to grant funding requirements, candidates must be between 18 and 24 years old.
Hours
The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting salary $26.96 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
