We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Director, Land Development Operations to lead the execution of current and future land development. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in the technical and tactical aspects of land development — from managing consultants and tracking project progress, to preparing detailed budgets and overseeing compliance.

You will serve as the strategic integrator ensuring land development advances with precision, accountability, and alignment to company priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Executing and completing all key milestones for land development projects
  • Manage the land development process to ensure information accuracy, adherence to estimated timelines and budgets.
  • Lead project teams, ensure project schedules and budgets are adhered.
  • Track projects ensuring alignment with strategic objectives of South Winds
  • Emphasize problem-solving and risk mitigation throughout the schedule of works.
  • Manage external consultants to ensure adherence to contracts, budgets and milestones.
  • Ensure that all development activities are carried out according to the project schedule and budget.
  • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the land development process.
  • Maintain accurate records of project activities, including progress reports, budgets, and schedule of works using Microsoft Project Planning, Excel and Lotworks software.
  • Provide regular updates to the CEO and other management team on project status.
  • Manage communication and the approvals process with regulatory bodies and project stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Support business development initiatives as needed.
  • Assist in the RFP development and selection processes.
  • Provide approval for operational invoices and expenses for projects.
  • Track actual vs. budget and progress of the land development projects in Excel; Microsoft Project Management and provide monthly reporting to CFO.
  • Manage the operational budget, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Land Development, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in project management, civil engineering, construction or land development.
  • PMP certification is an asset.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices. Proficiency in project management software fluency (LotWorks, MS Project, Excel).
  • Extensive knowledge of development processes and project management best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and strategic thinking skills. Ability to address and resolve issues or conflicts that arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and meet multiple and/or unexpected deadlines.
