At the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA), the Territorial Specialist, Pharmacy plays a pivotal role in leading transformative initiatives that enhance medication management and pharmacy services across the Northwest Territories. This exciting opportunity involves collaborating with healthcare leaders, supporting regional pharmacy teams, and influencing pharmacy policy to better serve diverse populations from neonates to seniors, in both rural and Indigenous communities.If you are passionate about advancing pharmacy practice, driving innovation, and contributing to health system improvements, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support regional pharmacy teams with the procurement, distribution, and monitoring of medications.
- Provide drug information, education, and guidance within the NTHSSA.
- Guide clinical practice based on the shared vision of the NTHSSA.
- Foster and sustain academic partnerships to advance professional practices and develop the territorial pharmacy workforce.
- Act as a role model for vigilance and commitment to the highest quality of patient care.
- Collaborate with territorial and regional healthcare leaders to implement innovative strategies and best practices.
Key Skills:
- Pharmacology Expertise: In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical care, evidence-based therapeutics, and best practices in medication management.
- Change Management: Ability to design, facilitate, and lead change processes within a healthcare environment.
- Team Building & Collaboration: Strong ability to build, lead, and work within interdisciplinary teams, with skill in planning and implementing change effectively.
- Conflict Resolution: Effective strategies to manage and resolve conflicts within healthcare teams or organizational settings.
Key Qualifications:
Education:
- Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy plus ten (10) years of recent healthcare/clinical experience;
- OR
- Master of Science in Pharmacy plus eight (8) years of recent healthcare/clinical experience.
Licensing Requirements:
- Must be eligible for registration under the NWT Pharmacy Act.
- Must meet the licensing requirements to practice as a pharmacist in the Northwest Territories.
- Willingness to become a member of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP).
