Overview:

SNDL’s vertically integrated cannabis operations segment has an aspiration to lead the cannabis industry and be the top licensed producer of choice amongst our customer base. As we look to build our operational capabilities and business performance, we are looking for a highly motivated and analytical Manager of Inventory and SC Optimization. This role will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain efficiency. This will be a critical leadership role in ensuring the right products are available at the right time and in the right quantities to meet customer demand while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory.


The ideal candidate will champion the overall inventory strategy of the Organization, including the creation of the ideal safety stock policies, minimizing write- offs and driving timely decisions for the use of obsolete inventory, while maintaining excellent OTIF results for our customers. In addition to traditional inventory responsibilities, this role actively supports capacity and supply visibility, contributing to the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process and collaborating with key stakeholders in Demand planning, Supply planning, and Logistics.

Scope of Role:


  • Own the corporate-level view of inventory health across all categories and sites (internal and 3PLs)
  • Develop and implement inventory optimization strategies aligned with company goals and objectives through inventory policies and planning parameters (shelf life, service targets, MOQs and reorder points)
  • Maintain visibility and control over inventory levels across all sites and product categories (bulk, UPC13, WIP, finished goods and packaging)
  • Develop and maintain inventory policies and procedures to ensure efficient inventory management practices and free cash flow
  • Track inventory performance against KPIs like days of inventory, turnover, and obsolescence and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Work with all necessary internal Teams to proactively identify at risk inventories and drive timely disposition to minimize losses
  • Collaborate with Demand Planning, Procurement, Logistics, and Sales teams to ensure alignment between inventory plans and operational needs
  • Actively contribute to the monthly S&OP process by reviewing and presenting inventory implications of demand and supply plans, including inventory projections
  • Develop scenario-based inventory outlooks and recommendations based on commercial shifts or supply limitations
  • Support ERP design and/or utilize inventory management software and analytical tools to generate reports, analyze data, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Implement and manage inventory control measures, including cycle counts and physical inventories, to ensure accuracy of stock records
  • Ensure integrity and alignment between ERP and 3PL systems, particularly on sellable vs. non-sellable stock
  • Lead cross-functional projects aimed at improving inventory efficiency and reducing supply chain costs
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in inventory optimization
  • Support through other duties as required


Knowledge and Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in inventory management, supply planning, or operations, ideally in regulated industries (e.g., cannabis, food, pharma)
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proven experience in inventory management and optimization, preferably within a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and generate actionable insights
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and ERP systems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerBI including data analysis and modeling
  • Excellent understanding of forecasting techniques, inventory control methods, and supply chain principles
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively across different teams
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data visualization tools is a plus
  • APICS certification an asset (CPIM or CLTD)
  • Experience with advanced inventory optimization techniques and software
  • Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies
