The Project Planner is a key member of the Facilities Project Planning and Development team providing capital project development and implementation support for all sites. This role is to plan and implement a wide range of small capital, infrastructure, minor space renovation projects to meet corporate building and infrastructure needs within building codes and legislated requirements.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating space allocation, furniture procurement, office relocations, and the design and implementation of wayfinding and signage systems across the Corporation. The Project Planner helps ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in alignment with the organization’s values. Working closely with project managers, internal departments, external vendors (consultants and contractors), and stakeholders, this role plays a crucial part in creating functional, efficient, and patient-centered environments and processes.
Qualifications
Required:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in architecture, interior design, engineering or a related discipline.
- 2-5 years of progressive experience playing a key role in infrastructure, space planning, renovation
- initiatives and procurement in a hospital setting, with demonstrated knowledge of building technical codes and standards applicable to health care environments.
- Working knowledge of design development/ contract documents, project cost estimation, project
- schedules, contract structure and other matters pertaining to project planning and implementation is required.
- Previous experience in contract administration or construction management, particularly as owner’s representative, is preferred.
- Knowledge of wayfinding solutions and best practice
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Project applications, Adobe Creative Suite, or other relevant design software.
- Knowledge of building codes, accessibility standards (e.g., AODA), IPAC; Asbestos Safety & Awareness and Occupational Health & Safety specific for construction and healthcare design principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- Flexibility in hours of work is required providing project supervision.
- Valid Driver’s License and use of vehicle to travel to site.
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
