Position Summary
The Estimator - is responsible for analyzing and determining the cost of machining parts and components based on technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. This role involves preparing detailed cost estimates, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring that quotes are competitive and accurate. The Estimator will also serve as an integrate point of contact for clients, addressing their inquiries, providing updates and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the estimation process.

Primary Responsibilities
Cost Estimation:
- Analyze technical drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates for machining parts and components.
- Calculate material costs, labor hours, machine time, and other expenses associated with machining operations.
- Develop comprehensive cost models to support pricing strategies and ensure competitive and profitable quotes.
Proposal Preparation:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, quotes, and proposals for customers.
- Ensure that all estimates include necessary details such as scope of work, assumptions, exclusions, and delivery schedules.
- Review and validate estimates with relevant departments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Technical Analysis:
- Assess manufacturing feasibility and identify potential risks or challenges in the machining process.
- Recommend cost-effective solutions and alternatives to meet customer requirements and specifications.
- Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and machining technologies to provide accurate and competitive estimates.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with sales, engineering, production, and purchasing teams to gather necessary information for accurate cost estimation.
- Communicate effectively with customers to clarify requirements, discuss estimates, and address any questions or concerns.
- Provide technical support and expertise to the sales team during the proposal and negotiation stages.
- Communicate with clients regarding estimates and project-related questions.
- Provide clear and timely communication with clients, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed promptly.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints effectively, working to resolve any issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of all estimates, quotes, and proposals, including revisions and updates.
- Generate and present cost analysis reports to management, highlighting key insights and recommendations for cost improvements.
- Monitor and track the accuracy of estimates against actual costs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience in machining or manufacturing estimation may be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation, preferably within the machining or manufacturing industry.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and manufacturing methods.
- Knowledge of pressure vessels, tanks and mixing systems is an asset
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with the ability to perform detailed cost calculations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and customers.
- Proficiency in using estimation software and tools, as well as general office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
