The City of Delta is seeking self-motivated, customer service-oriented individuals to join our team as Bylaw Patrollers on a temporary basis, starting in May and continuing through to late September (up to 40 hours per week). Candidates must be available to work evening shifts, weekends and statutory holidays.

Reporting to the Property Use & Compliance Department, the Bylaw Patroller is responsible for patrolling parks throughout Delta. Your role will involve monitoring, educating and ensuring public compliance with the Parks Bylaw, Animal Control Bylaw and Highways Bylaw. You will receive training and be authorized to issue warnings or Bylaw Enforcement Notices for specific offences under these bylaws.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service and conflict management skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Strong judgement, as well as the ability to interpret and explain bylaws, policies and regulations to the public, is essential.

Previous experience in regulatory or enforcement work along with relevant post-secondary education is preferred. A valid class 5 BC Driver’s Licence in good standing is required as well as the ability to ride a bicycle off-road in all types of weather. Candidates should be comfortable in handling domestic animals or wildlife. The successful candidate will be required to wear a uniform.
