Our continued growth in mining and metals means that we are looking for an Intermediate Ventilation Consultant to join our outstanding Mining and Geology team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of challenging projects as both a standalone consultant and as part of our mining team.

The successful candidate will be experienced in day to day mine ventilation responsibilities on a mine site and/or who has mine ventilation consulting experience with an interest in business development who has relationships with clients in the base metals / precious metals mining market. He or she will be a dynamic, creative and innovative mining professional who can provide high-quality mine ventilation consulting services to our growing base of clients.

The selected candidate could be working either in our Sudbury or Toronto office.

With us, you’ll get the opportunity to...

  • Provide mine ventilation design services for underground mine studies, such as scoping, prefeasibility, feasibility, and detailed design
  • Provide on-site assistance to clients by way of ventilation surveys, audits, and training
  • Coordinate mine ventilation projects with the mining team and other engineering disciplines, such as electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, civil/structural, etc.
  • Prepare and oversee preparation of mine ventilation drawings
  • Prepare ventilation equipment specifications and assist both internally and externally with clients with ventilation equipment procurement
  • Prepare CAPEX and OPEX cost estimates
  • Prepare high-level heat load studies
  • Manage the mine ventilation components of both large and small (stand alone) projects
  • Liaise with clients and fan OEM’s during selection of mine ventilation equipment
  • Mentor mining E.I.T.’s
  • Prepare and contribute to proposals and assist with business development process
  • Author and contribute to mine ventilation study reports
  • Actively support business development activities through participation in conferences and direct business development activities

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate or Degree in Mining from a recognized university or Diploma from a recognized technical college
  • Minimum of 5 years of underground mining experience in operations, and/or consulting
  • Member of PEO, or OACETT, or the possibility to become a member of a professional association for engineers or technologists
  • High level of proficiency with underground mine ventilation design software such as VentSim
  • Understand methods of ventilation system control and environmental monitoring
  • Good understanding of Battery Electric Equipment (BEV)
  • Operational experience with ventilating various underground mining methods, such as, cut & fill, sub-level stoping, sub-level block caving, and block caving
  • Experience in mine ventilation equipment selection, capital cost and operating cost estimates
  • Experience in mine design software such as Deswik, Datamine, Vulcan, Surpac, or Minesight
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and oral
  • Enthusiasm for business development and growth of the firm
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients in a professional and technical manner;
  • A willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, for varying durations and at times to remote locations
  • Asset : Fluency in English required with functionality in a second language (French or Spanish)
