Job Description
The Role
Technician Team Leader of Product Assurance Garage is responsible for oversight of technician tasks, communication of learnings to team and stakeholder, and ensuring that all work is completed efficiently. Strong leadership skills, specific knowledge in automotive diagnostics regardless of vehicle architecture, and focus on job site health are critical for this role. The Technician Team Leader is responsible for training plans, monitoring of technical tasks, works with customer and stakeholders, orders supplies, fixes equipment or coordinates maintenance, and enforces rules and regulations associated with the job site.

The Technician Team Leader is responsible for training plans, monitoring of technical tasks, works with customer and stakeholders, orders supplies, fixes equipment or coordinates maintenance, and enforces rules and regulations associated with the job site.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with other technicians and service personnel to provide comprehensive vehicle repairs, ensuring effective use of time and resources
- Responsible for shop floor throughput and presenting opportunities to improve to leadership
- Review failures and perform root cause analysis across a number of components
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems in vehicles, including wiring, batteries, and electronic control units
- Stay updated on the latest automotive technology and electrical systems to enhance skills and knowledge
- Set up and execute tests for a variety of positions and systems with applicable instruments
- Make instrumentation adjustments and perform analyses and functional diagnoses
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on vehicles
- Assist in testing of prototypes and pilot components and assemblies
- Serve as technical consultant on the development of advanced technology-based solutions
- Coordinating updates to embedded control unit software and hardware in development vehicles
- Maintain work place organization standards and apply lean principles
- Track and manage inventory lists and GM specific tools
- Coordinate with early build team to plan and execute vehicle retrofits
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 5+ years of experience in automotive service industry or related field
- Degree, diploma or trades certification in Automotive Service Technician, or related fields, such as ASEP, etc.
- EV / Battery Systems training preferred
- Full G License
- ON310 license is required
- ODP is required
- Knowledge of automotive systems and the ability to explain systems and repairs to others
- Willingness and ability to maintain current product and technical knowledge
- Ability to assist in diagnosing vehicle problems and interpret work orders
- Ability and desire to ensure vehicles are repaired correctly the first time
- Ability to diagnose vehicle problems other than those on the work order or those described by the customer
- Knowledge of parts requirements to complete a job, and ability to communicate parts requirements via repair orders
- Ability to maintain communication with customers, stake holders, and team members
- Knowledge of approved and established procedures for warranty repairs and to ensure technicians follow the policies
- Ability to document repairs performed on completed customer service orders
- Ability to stay current by attending technical training schools and by reading and understanding service manuals, technical bulletins, etc.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with the quality control & inspection requirements of the Product Assurance Garage
- Ability to clock on and clock off when working on a repair
- Fosters collaboration and teamwork
- Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust
- Able to read and interpret schematics, and use of diagnostics tools such as TechConnect, MDI and Vehicle Spy/NeoVi
- Experience in the creation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of electronic and control circuits
- Vehicle software maintenance inspections on electrical components to ensure optimal performance
- GM 2V HV Cert is preferred
