GENERAL POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Canada primary responsibility is for Sales overall productivity and effectiveness. Reporting to the Regional Vice President, the Director fosters close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the success of their team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Designs, implements, and manages sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes.
- Establishes high levels of quality, accuracy, and process consistency in planning, forecasting, and budgeting approaches used by AHQ and the sales organization.
- Ensures planning, forecasting and budgeting efforts are appropriately integrated in line with Regional leadership, AHQ /HQ.
- Provides leadership to the Canada sales and counsel to the Regional Vice President, in implementing campaigns to meet objectives set by AHQ/HQ
- Responsible implementing Regional KPI’s as set by HMM Regional/AHQ/HQ leadership.
- Facilitates successful implementation of new programs through the organization by ensuring a well-defined, efficient process is in place for launch.
- Works closely with the Regional VP and PNW management on recommended enhancements and strategies.
- Responsible for optimal personnel assignments and placement.
- Responsible for changing roles, coverage models, team configurations to maximize sales efficiency.
- Aligns reporting, and training with performance management priorities.
- Ensures reports and market intelligence are provided timely.
- Accountability for all Canada key Regional performance metrics as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Successful experience building a go-to-market strategy and Regional/corporate sales plan
- Successful experience building and growing a sales territory
- Selling ocean services (product/service) to importers /exporters.
- Monitoring and evaluating sales rep progress, aligning with performance expectations
- Managing key customer relationships and closing strategic opportunities
- Utilizing a CRM to manage team sales tasks, pipeline, and closing data
- Hiring, developing key personnel in Canada
- Providing status reports with market and customer feedback to the leadership team
- PC proficiency
- Literate in MS Office Suite and general computer skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask is crucial
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Requires four-year degree in business or related field; Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent education and experience preferred.
- Requires at least 7 years of experience in sales management within a business-to-business, business planning scope
- Experience in successfully managing corporate initiatives
ENVIRONMENT / EQUIPMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work performed in an office environment where the noise level is moderate. Regularly required to stand, sit, and walk around the office. Frequently required to work on a computer. Occasionally required to use force to lift, push and pull up to 20 pounds.
