What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada’s first Small Modular Reactor on the SMR-X Project. Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase, design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site. The primary function of this position is to ensure the timely delivery, receipt and processing of project materials, including permanenting & temporary plant materials, tools, consumables and engineered items.
We are seeking a Tool Coordinator to support tooling operations by managing data entry, requisitions, and inventory control. This non-unionized, administrative role plays a key part in maintaining accurate tool tracking, procurement, and compliance with nuclear construction standards on a unionized job site.
The Tool Coordinator is responsible for overseeing tooling requisitions, purchase tracking, and inventory management using SAP and Microsoft Excel, as well as performing accurate data entry into the site’s tool tracking system. This provides critical support to field operations, supply chain, and tool crib teams.

What You’ll Do Here
- Enter and maintain accurate tool data in the site’s tooling software or database, ensuring proper documentation and traceability.
- Create and track requisitions and purchase orders using SAP, following procurement protocols and project timelines.
- Use Excel to maintain tracking sheets for tool status, calibration schedules, receipts, and forecasting needs.
- Communicate with procurement, construction supervisors, tool crib staff, and vendors to ensure tooling needs are met on schedule.
- Ensure all tools meet CNSC, CSA N299, and site QA/QC requirements for documentation, calibration, and certification.
- Support field readiness by participating in daily/weekly planning meetings and aligning tool delivery with construction schedules.
- Maintain clean, auditable records of all tooling-related transactions.
- Act as a liaison between administrative support and unionized field and craft teams.
- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in business, supply chain, or a technical field is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in tool coordination, procurement support, or inventory control in a construction or industrial environment.
- Proficiency with SAP (requisitions, purchase orders, inventory functions).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (spreadsheets, formulas, data entry, reporting).
- Familiarity with nuclear industry standards, tool control processes, and Canadian regulatory requirements (CNSC, CSA N299) is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.alongside unionized field personnel and management teams.
