The Position

We’re on the hunt for a Junior or Intermediate Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) Engineer/MTS to support the Logistics and Sustaining Engineering (L&SE) program at our Brampton office.

S&MA is an independent engineering reporting organization within MDA. S&MA is involved in all aspects of the program, including support to proposals, customer and subcontractor contract negotiations, and through all phases of design, development, procurement, assembly, integration, test, qualification, delivery and operational support.

This job requires interaction with internal customers (including MDA program managers, engineering and manufacturing team), external customers (including their program and S&MA personnel) and various subcontractors and major suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure MDA and Customer technical and quality requirements are met during all phases of project (design, procurement, MAI&T, and mission operations)
  • Working collaboratively within a cross-functional team to identify and address issues.
  • Chair Material Review Boards (MRBs) for investigation and resolution of hardware/software non-conformances.
  • Support technical review meetings such as Design Reviews, Configuration Control Boards, Test Readiness Reviews, and Acceptance Reviews.
  • Reviewing technical documentation such as drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Early identification of technical and safety risks, and mitigation planning.
  • Performing other S&MA tasks as required (e.g. hazard analysis, reliability analysis, FMEA).
  • Support failure investigations related to hardware and software non-conformances.
  • Contribute to process improvements for increased quality, productivity, efficiency and cost savings.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics etc.)
  • (For Intermediate level) A minimum of two years' experience in an engineering or assurance role.
  • Knowledge of product/quality assurance principles and practices related to product development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently with effective time management.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality management system standard is an asset.

Comments/Special Considerations

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

The compensation range for this position is $65,000 - $103,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
