Purpose Of Position
The Student Decision Support Analyst assists the Analytics team in providing consultative and analytical support through the provision of integrated statistical, and clinical information to support evidence-based decision making and the monitoring of performance. Required areas of analyses may include trending, impact analysis, benchmarking, and support for quality improvement initiatives. Assists in the development, execution and promotion of corporate benchmarking, cross-sector scorecards and dashboards, data validation methodologies, decision support and continuous improvement efforts. The Analytics department supports work with large-scale clinical and administrative datasets; building, and maintaining reports from financial and clinical source systems, addressing data quality issues, and responding to the information needs of internal and external stakeholders.

Duties
- Support the Analytics team in the development of key performance indicators, dashboards, data visualizations and reports for the purposes of monitoring and optimizing organizational performance on quality, safety, operations, and planning.
- Connect, query, obtain, and consolidate data from multiple sources and systems in order to provide robust statistics.
- Develop documentation for Sault Area Hospital Data Repository.
- Build predictive models
- Provide analytical support and expertise to facilitate effective data analysis and interpretation.
- Use keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy, reliability, and validity of dashboards and reports, following through on corrections when required.
- Understand and maintain best practice standards for analysis and reporting at all levels including data governance, documentation, testing and visualization techniques.
- Effectively use time management and problem solving skills to prioritize and complete work according to established deadlines.
- Develop strong and trusting relationships with the Analytics Team and others throughout the organization through collaboration and teamwork.
- Foster a work environment that values people and encourages participation, creativity, learning, and accountability.
- Enrollment in an undergraduate program in Computer Science, Business Administration, Health Informatics or related area.
- One year of experience in a data analytic environment with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- One or more years of relational database experience (SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) and/or Python programming language.
- Solid understanding of data warehousing principles and experience in design and/or development using dimensional modeling principles.
- Experience working with data visualization tools such as Power BI, MicroStrategy or Tableau.
- Proficient use of the MS Office suite (specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- A willingness to undertake complex challenges as well as routine tasks.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as being a contributing team member.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Adherence to confidentiality and privacy requirements for sensitive financial and clinical information.
