We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our team as a Photonics Device Yield Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and improving the yield of photonic devices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving process improvements that enable production of complex photonics products.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
- Analyze data from various sources (e.g. fabrication metrology (AFM, SEM, optical microscope), optical spectroscopy) to identify trends and patterns related to device performance and yield.
- Develop and maintain statistical models to predict device yield based on input parameters such as process conditions, materials, and design characteristics.
- Collaborate with Process Integration Engineers to develop and implement process improvements that increase device yield and quality.
- Package bundles of yield improvements for release, ensuring they are properly documented and communicated to stakeholders.
- Prepare new technology nodes for initial release by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure readiness for Quantum Systems.
- Release new versions of devices into existing nodes, working closely with Design Engineers and Process Integration Engineers to ensure seamless integration.
- Present data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership and cross-functional teams to drive business decisions.
WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in yield engineering or a related field.
- Strong understanding of device physics, materials science, and semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++ is required.
- Experience with statistical modeling tools (e.g., JMP, R), data analysis software (e.g., Excel, Tableau), and pulling data from databases (e.g., SQL)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
An exceptional candidate will bring:
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in photonic device yield engineering or a related field.
- Experience with yield prediction modeling.
- Strong knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes.
- Certification in Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and release processes.

The base annual salary range for this full-time role is between $101,000 to $165,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target range for new hire base salary across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside of this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to a candidate's qualifications including relevant education and training, competencies, experience, geographic location, and business needs. Base pay is only one part of the total compensation package. Full time roles are eligible for equity and benefits. Base pay is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
