The impact you'll make:

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for leading the month-end close process and preparing accurate, timely consolidated financial statements and related analysis. This role plays an integral part in ensuring compliance with ASPE and internal controls, supporting the annual audit, and acting as a Finance representative on cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the monthly financial close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with ASPE.
  • Prepare and review month-end accounting entries, including inventory and accruals, and perform period-end financial analysis.
  • Complete account reconciliations and variance analyses.
  • Lead and prepare all deliverables for the annual financial statement audit, including supporting schedules, working papers, financial statements, note disclosures, and corporate tax return information. Liaise directly with external auditors and tax consultants.
  • Monitor accounting processes and ensure compliance with ASPE, internal policies, and control requirements.
  • Organize and lead our semi-annual inventory counts across all locations.
  • Review and oversee monthly sales tax filings across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely payment and reconciliation to the general ledger.
  • Support the preparation of periodic board meeting materials and monthly reporting packages.
  • Provide support for annual insurance renewals and compliance requirements, including coordination of requested financial data.
  • Contribute to and support privacy and data governance initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Review and provide mentorship for work performed by the Junior Accountants and finance team staff members, offering day-to-day guidance and support.
  • Act as a Finance representative on cross-functional projects, providing insight and ensuring financial considerations are incorporated.
  • Participate in and lead process improvement initiatives across financial and operational functions.
  • Assist in the implementation and enhancement of processes and systems to streamline operations and improve financial accuracy.
  • Provide support to management with ad hoc analysis, special projects, and other areas as required.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • CPA designation with Bachelor undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience including a combination of experience in both public accounting and industry experience, bringing both technical depth and practical application in a business environment.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with ASPE and full-cycle accounting.
  • Proven experience with leading financial audits and tax compliance preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems proactively, work independently, and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly motivated and growth-oriented, with a desire to take on increasing responsibilities. This role offers strong potential for progression into a management position for the right candidate.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; capable of working cross-functionally and mentoring others.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is considered a strong asset.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

The compensation range on average for this position is from $85,000 - $100,000 annually. Base pay is dependent on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
