Job Summary

The Shipper/Receiving Clerk : Works effectively and efficiently in a warehouse environment to receive product and schedule shipping, including developing working knowledge of warehouse organization and proper detailed shipping documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Manufacturing/Materiel Department to ensure the integrity and accuracy of purchased parts location data in the computerized Inventory, WIP and Purchasing modules.
  • Assist Purchasing Department to relay information on the accuracy of received purchase orders regarding item description and quantity of received shipment.
  • Assist the Accounting Department in ensuring the accuracy and approval of Purchase Orders for consumable items.
  • Assist Manufacturing with the receiving, storage, and handling of floor stock material.
  • Keep the Material Manager informed of issues that may affect the delivery of services or cost performance of the Stores team and the plant in general.
  • Assist and coordinate with the Spare Parts Department on the picking, packing, and shipping of Spare Parts Orders.
  • Ability to interact & communicate with outside vendors.
  • Ability to interact & communicate with couriers / logistics carriers.
  • Ability to operate a forklift & will train if not certified.
  • Promote safety within the plant and report any observed safety violations.
  • Other duties as required by business conditions.

Requirements

  • High school graduate and three to five years related experience in a stock room/supply chain environment; OR an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience with and understanding of computerized inventory control systems is a must.
  • Direct experience with ERP system preferably, Microsoft Navision is desirable.
  • Able to remain open minded; manage transitions effectively as demands change.
  • Computer literate; comfortable within a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Able to solve problems and make decisions while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.

This job runs in a warehouse environment, and this role routinely uses standard office equipment. The physical demands described here are representative of what an employee must meet to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly talk or listen. The employee must stand for extended periods and be able to bend; walk for periods, use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift equipment, test equipment, and supplies, up to fifty (50) pounds.
