Position Summary...The Manager, Project and Construction oversees and coordinates construction projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery while adhering to industry, regulatory, and company standards. This role significantly contributes to the company's growth through expertise in commercial construction practices and environmental standards.

What You'll Do...

The Manager, Project and Construction proposes and manages contractor bid lists, ensuring proper pre-qualification and inclusion on the preferred contractor list. This role builds project-specific budgets and phasing plans, focusing on minimizing disruption to operations. The position identifies and secures necessary permits and contracts, and facilitates pre-bid and pre-construction meetings to align project plans with construction methods.

The Manager monitors construction progress through regular updates, site reviews, and approval of change requests and progress draws. This role liaises with cross-functional teams and external consultants to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolution of project deficiencies. Regular on-site reviews and evaluations are conducted to maintain project standards and schedules.

This position also evaluates market and construction trends, providing analysis to achieve cost savings and budget efficiency. The Manager investigates cost variances, analyzes change orders, and sets up cost monitoring systems. By working with internal teams, the Manager assists in building capital project budgets and validating project feasibility.

Additionally, the Manager administers the contractor prequalification process, manages the approved vendor list, and reviews contractor pricing for changes. The role enforces quality, health, and safety standards, resolves contract disputes, and reports on project changes and budgets to ensure successful project completion.

Qualifications

Able to read architectural plans and interpret specifications.

Knowledge of hierarchy of contract documents and familiar with hierarchy of contractor and sub-contractor’s responsibilities.

Experience in various trades including property maintenance.

Experience in use of Auto-Cad, Evoco, MS Project, SAP/Teamworks.

Advanced understanding of Canadian Legislation relating to compliance on building permits and codes.

Proficient in Construction Industry Health, Safety and Environmental Prevention and Control programs.

Knowledge of Construction Contracts, Contractor's Obligations and Deliverables

Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Years of Experience Required 6 - 8 year
