Construction Officer – Civil

Member of a multidiscipline team of Construction Officers overseeing and coordinating site activities for a transmission line upgrade project, including road and crane pad construction.

General Description:

• The Construction Officer Level 3 acts as a site coordinator and inspector on multiple or large civil, electrical, and/or mechanical projects, ensuring the work, materials, progress, and cost meet client expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect construction work on substations, transmission lines, and hydroelectric equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and building codes.
• Prioritize work site safety and conduct Safe Work Observations.
• Coordinate site testing, surveying, and estimating activities using knowledge of engineering drawings.
• Support contract and work order administration by collaborating with contractors and internal teams.
• Provide technical advice on complex construction issues.
• Respond to internal and third-party inquiries, representing the client professionally.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in a civil trade (e.g., heavy equipment operator) or a National Diploma of Technology in Civil Engineering.
• Valid Class 5 driver's license.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel.
• Willingness to work at various remote sites throughout BC.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Intermediate First Aid Certification.
• Experience with substation and/or road construction.
• Knowledge of Site Safety Coordination and Multi-Employer Workplace regulations.
