About The Role

D-Wave’s software test team is seeking a Senior Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a full-time position. In this role, you will join a team of highly motivated developers working alongside our software, applications, and DevOps teams to test, automate, monitor, deploy, and enhance our state-of-the-art Hybrid Solver Service (HSS).

Your primary focus will be on the HSS platform contributing to both manual and automated testing, as well as performance, scalability, and reliability testing. You will play a key role in TestOps and CI/CD automation and collaborate throughout the development lifecycle—from reviewing technical requirements to implementation and enhancement of our sophisticated test automation infrastructure.

You will have the opportunity to influence the future of our products and get exposure to a full quantum computing stack from the client side all the way through to the classical systems driving the QPU.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of comprehensive test plans and robust test cases to ensure high-quality software delivery
  • Design and implement automated test cases and test infrastructure for validating new and existing features
  • Review and translate customer, business, and product requirements into effective functional tests
  • Measure system performance and reliability
  • Maintain high levels of code coverage through automated regression tests
  • Continuously improve the performance and robustness of regression test suites
  • Report, monitor and track defect resolution
  • Design, implement, and operate our deployment and test pipelines for cloud-based systems
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to streamline our build and release processes through CI/CD
  • Use your expertise to provide architectural and design guidance to our development teams for our cloud services
  • Participate in root-cause analysis of production incidents

About You

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent education and experience
  • 4+ years of professional experience in API test automation
  • 4+ years of professional experience developing automated test cases in a production environment using Python
  • Experience with test automation tools (e.g. pytest, unit test, or JUnit) and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker or similar
  • Experience with Git workflows, including branching, merging, code reviews, issuing pull requests, etc.
  • Solid understanding of modern software testing methodologies, OOP, tools and processes
  • Aptitude towards designing and architecting high-quality, reliable software test assets including test design, scripts and bugs
  • A methodical, detail-oriented approach to software testing
  • Experience working in Agile environments
  • Collaborative, adaptable and curious problem solver with a passion for continuous learning, and can clearly communicate complex technical concepts across cross-functional teams

Bonus Points For

  • Experience architecting, configuring, deploying, operating, and troubleshooting modern SaaS/PaaS web applications on AWS
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as OpenSearch and Grafana

The Pay Range For This Role Is

124,000 - 185,000 CAD per year(Burnaby)
