Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Building Operator to join our facilities management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of building systems, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for all occupants. Candidates must hold a valid 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate and demonstrate a strong understanding of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Scope Of Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Conduct regular building inspections and promptly address any deficiencies.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks in accordance with company standards and schedules.
  • Respond to service calls and tenant requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and system performance.
  • Monitor and manage energy consumption and support sustainability initiatives.
  • Assist with coordinating and overseeing contractors and vendors performing work on-site.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in the building’s emergency response plan and assist during drills or actual emergencies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Interface Manger.


Work Conditions:

  • Rotational shifts or on-call availability may be required depending on operational needs.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions.


Requirements / Qualifications

  • Is authorized to work in Canada.
  • Valid 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate (mandatory).
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in building operations, facilities maintenance, or a similar role.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment specifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills (experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) considered an asset).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be physically capable of performing all duties related to the position, including climbing ladders, lifting moderate loads, and working in various environmental conditions.
  • Valid driver's license may be required.
