This position involves the analysis and evaluation of legal land surveys required for the preparation of Crown title documents; review of land claims for the integration into a Geographic Information System (GIS). Work also includes analyzing land surveys to ensure acceptability for the preparation of Crown titles based on legislative and policy guidelines; verifying technical accuracy of surveys, consulting with surveyors and advising surveyors of errors or omissions related to boundary overlap, description, measurements, etc., prior to the preparation of legal description and title; approving surveys for land title preparation; identifying errors or omissions prior to the preparation of the final draft documents and initiating proper corrective action; detailed investigation of adverse land claims, including review of modern and historical surveys, aerial photography, GIS/GPS data, and various land related documents, boundary disputes or other matters which would affect issuance of Crown titles; conducts field investigations and land surveys to ensure the accurate location of boundaries in delineating lands; conducts Registry of Deeds searches; other related duties as required.
Screening Criteria
- Diploma in geomatics/surveying (equivalencies will be considered)
- Experience using GIS and related software
- Experience with land surveys
- Experience in investigation/research of land claims (asset)
- Experience using aerial photography (asset)

- Knowledge of GIS and related software
- Knowledge of land inspections, legal documents and legal land surveys
- Knowledge of related acts, policies and legislation
- Knowledge of investigation/research of land claims (asset)

Conditions of Offer
1. Proof of a valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
Conditions of Acceptance
- Overnight travel and/or fieldwork, using equipment such as snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, boats and helicopters may be required.
- Overtime work may be required.
